Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry of Good Hope will exalt God and help youth locally (3rd Ward and Houston Metro), nationally and internationally become committed followers of Christ.

The Biblical Imperative for our Ministry Is:

Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB95)

18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Vision for the Youth

  • Vision is for 200 new youth to make Good Hope their place to belong.
  • What is the “dream” for 3 years from now?  500 youth regularly participating in youth programming
  • On the way to the 3 year “dream”; what must the ministry look like in a year?
    • Hoops 4 Hope will need to have 100 youth participants.
    • A girls volleyball outreach program will need 50 participants.
    • The Crossover will have a regular participation of 100 youth.
    • Sunday Discipleship will need to average 75 youth per Sunday next Fall.

Our Youth Ministry touches the needs of our youth:

    Spiritual needs:
    • Evangelism – The Gospel will be communicated through regular sharing during sports ministry programs, and Sunday discipleship classes.
    • Discipleship – will take place through Sunday morning class. Camps and or mission trips will also facilitate edification.

Physical needs: Sports programs will provide exercise for kids and expose teens to athletics and team building.
    • Hoops 4 Hope
    • The Crossover—Open gym outreach events on Friday nights

Emotional Needs: All activities will aim to encourage youth in Christian behavior and show the love of Christ. Also, a mentor program will also serve as an encouragement to teens.

Relational Needs: (2 Cor. 1:12) – Socializing with other teens, encouragement in parental relationships
