Dear Family of Hope,

As you know, since March 2020 we have made your safety our priority and have erred on the side of caution when it comes to coming back to in-person worship on our campus. Having lost members to COVID-19, and having many more get ill and recover from the virus, it has been a challenge to balance safety concerns with the desire to come back together and worship in person. While we have moved from Parking Lot Praise to convening once a month in the sanctuary, we have been constantly monitoring the virus, relying on the opinion of the CDC, the medical community and our GHMBC COVID Task Force to make the final decision regarding how to move forward. The truth is, now we are seeing a spike in the Omicron variant. The first person to die of the Omicron variant in our country was in Harris County, and the test positivity rate in Harris Country has increased 746% over the last 14 days.

Many families, including mine, had to make adjustments and cancellations for the holidays because of families members who got sick and had to quarantine. And, while we planned to add a more robust, in-person worship schedule beginning the first Sunday in January (January 2, 2022), the rise in the positivity rate for the Omicron variant has led us to cancel any in-person gatherings until we see the numbers of infections and deaths go down substantially. Therefore I am asking everyone to get vaccinated, get your booster shot, wear your masks and continue to STREAM OUR WORSHIP SERVICES ONLINE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Please continue to protect yourself, your family and our community during these risky times. I will pray for you and I ask you to pray for me. May God continue to bless you.
